MRPS sees bias against Madigas

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Vijayawada: The Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) State
president Peripogu Venkateswara Rao, on Sunday asked the government to
announce Madigas share in government appointments to be initiated
after completion of categorisation.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Venkateswara Rao announced the
agitation schedule to mount pressure on the government for
categorisation. He informed that the MRPS activists of Rayalaseema
districts would meet at Anantapur on March 4, followed by Telangana
districts at Warangal on March 20 and Cosatal districts at Guntur on
March 25. These meetings would set the agenda for the government to
make up its mind on the categorization.

He demanded that the government fill the posts like VAO, VRO, APPSC
and DSC only after categorization to ensure real benefit to Madigas.
He also wanted the government to take up recruitment to all vacant
posts only after categorisation.

He blamed the Vijayawada Parliament Member Lagadapati Rajagopal for
giving priority to Mala community and neglecting Madigas. To
substantiate his charge, Venkateswara Rao said that the MP had
promised to set up Ambedkar statue at the police control room. He did
not speak about the statue of former Deputy Prime Minister Babu
Jagjivan Ram. He wanted to know whether Rajagopal wanted only the
votes of Malas and not Madigas.

He criticised the Municipal Commissioner G Ravi Babu for giving
permission to set up Ambedkar statue, while neglecting Jagjivan Ram's
statue at Ramavarapadu.

He alleged that the Municipal Commissioner was spending more money on
Ambedkar's birthday celebrations while not releasing money for
Jagjivan Ram's birthday, which showed the partisan attitude of the
civic chief. He also alleged that the Commissioner was giving more
houses to Mala community people under JNNURM scheme.

MRPS leaders Nalluri Sekhar Babu and Boodala Srinivasa Rao were also present.
