Odisha: SC and ST bodies call Jagatsinghpur Bandh on 8 April; demand
resignation of minister

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: Even though Minister Damodar
Rout has endured judicial cap after getting bail from the Kujanga
court on 4 April for his alleged casteist slur and pending under
judicial scrutiny but few SC and ST organizations and citizens body
here have called Jagatsinghpur Bandha on 8 April seeking resignation
of minister.
The organizations are spearheading the Bandha Call as Ambedkar Scand
ST association and Jagatsinghpur Nagarika Mancha , but the
organizations have called dawn to dusk Bandha on Friday and essential
services have been excluded from the Bandha. Meanwhile police have
made elaborate arrangements taking stock of the Bandha called by SC
and ST organizations and assured civilians law and order situation
would be maintained with letter and sprit during the Bandha.
Meanwhile few congress men involved in the Nagarika Mancha have fumed
without their consent few SC and ST people having their allegiances
with state ruling government BJD have called the Bandha as consequence
they have criticized the move and decided to stay away from the
Bandha.
